We’re past the Dog Days of summer and even Labor Day is behind us. Hard to believe most children are in school again. They may complain about getting up too early, but I recall our sons’ returning to school excited to see their friends.
Did you have summer reading lists when you were young? Our ten-year-old grandson, an avid baseball player and sports enthusiast, was given a reading list from school. Poor guy was not looking forward to reading all summer. I admit, at his age, I’d rather be playing outside or attending summer camp.
A couple weeks ago I started reading a book recommended by a friend, then stopped after a few chapters. It was all about Christmas and I wasn’t ready. I love autumn. I was glad I had another book by the bed. Much to my surprise the plot started on Christmas Eve. Nothing on the cover warned me. In fact, just the opposite. The cover sports a blonde wearing a sundress at the beach. Now what?
I guess ever since I wrote my novella for An Amish Christmas Kitchen, the season of celebrating with gifts and lights has been circling in the back of my mind. I can’t wait for its official release date — Sept 3rd — today!. Amazon sometimes jumps the gun and this time I hope they do.
To help celebrate An Amish Christmas Kitchen’s release, I’ve decided to give away this seasonal two-sided 43” winter-themed table runner. It’s never too early, don’t you agree? Plus, one of my signed books: either Starting from Scratch, A Letter from Lancaster County; or one of 3 books from The Legacy of Lancaster County Trilogy — Leaving Lancaster, its sequel, Pennsylvania Patchwork, or Forever Amish; or A Portrait of Marguerite, and now you could even choose An Amish Christmas Kitchen.
