Today, please welcome to my blog author Suzanne Woods Fisher! Book one, The Letters, in Suzanne’s new series, Inn at Eagle Hill, is about to release on August 1. Suzanne is hosting a scavenger hunt July 23 – August 1, and I’m one of the stops! Keep an eye on Suzanne’s blog for a clue as to that day’s scavenger-hunt stop and visit for a sneak peek at The Letters and the chance to win a copy of the book!
“Hope is like the sun, which as you journey toward it, casts the shadow behind you.” Amish proverb
In the book The Letters, fourteen-year-old Mim Schrock found a Latin phrase she liked, ‘Miracula fieri hic’ (translated to mean: miracles occur here), and painted it on The Inn at Eagle Hill sign in front of her family’s farm. A newspaper reporter caught wind of it and wrote it up in a human interest article. Indeed, there were some unusual coincidences happening at the inn: A woman’s cancer was cured. A marriage was healed. Soon, guests flocked to the inn, hoping to receive a miracle.
You can imagine the stir Mim created in her Stoney Ridge community. The Amish do believe in miracles—but ones that point to God’s sovereignty. Jesus seemed cautious about miracles, knowing they didn’t produce faith. A miracle is not a destination, it merely points the way. Why do you think people long for miracles, for signs and wonders?
What are your thoughts about miracles occurring today? What kind of plumb line do you use to know if a miracle is truly a miracle or just a happy coincidence? Most importantly, what would a miracle do for your faith?

Thank you for offering this giveaway. I do believe in miracles. I sometimes pray for one, but I know God is in charge and his timing is perfect. The miracle I might ask for may not be in his plans.

Hi Sue–You make a very good point about miracles we ask for and God’s will. Thank you for sharing your insights! Warmly, Suzanne
My Great-Great-Grandfather was a Mennonite Bishop and I am love reading about the Amish since he lived more like the Amish than Mennonite. I never got to meet him but I do have a strong understanding of how they lived and worshiped. mzieli01@yahoo.com
Hi Marg! I wonder if your great-great-Grandfather was a horse and buggy Mennonite? Would be interesting for you to learn more about him. Interesting family heritage! Warmly, Suzanne

Miracles? Every day while caring for my 94 year old Granny with dementia. It is an amazing journey, sometimes sad, but worth every minute of it. I often read while sitting with Granny on the back porch.
She would love to hear Suzanne’s stories!
memoriesbychris@yahoo.com
Wow, Chris, sounds like you are traveling an amazing journey with your grandma. You have my deepest admiration! I bet she would love to hear one of Suzanne’s stories.
Suzanne, love your books. If anyone out there hasn’t read her books & you like a good Christian book, then here’s your author.
Pat…SO kind! Thank you for those words…means more to me than you might imagine! Warmly, Suzanne
I would love to win her book because I love reading and good reading is hard to come by.
I think it depends on a person’s definition of miracle. Some people call all answers to prayer a miracle and some people are only looking at miracles as an obviously supernatural event–like a tumor disappearing for no medical reason. I like to think of all answered prayers as miracles, rather than just happy coincidences.
I’m looking forward to reading this new series.

Would love to read your book. Thanls for the giveaway. Mary Dean quilteddaisy@gmail.com
I think that many times when we Christians pray for a miracle, we expect something spectacular like Jesus performed in the Bible. In doing this, we miss all the others occurring around us. We miss the softening of hearts for Christ as he draws people to himself through your situation. We forget that He has a higher purpose for our situations.
I so need a mirical right now, would love to read this book. inspiremichelle@yahoo.com
There are miracles all around us – sometimes we just don’t recognize them. I have to remind myself to slow down to see what’s right in front of me.
I would love to have a copy! Thanks for the opportunity.

Thank you, Mary Ellen! Loved your view of God.
I guess I well try again,…..and yes I believe in miracles……God’s way is too be patient….and things do happen…but you have to put your trust in God…pennvillegal57@hotmail.com
So true!
I’d love to win a book. Miracles….I believe they fall from God’s Hand to whom He wills, and I don’t understand His ways. Bottom line is that none of us deserve anything from Him…He gives as He will.
Connie R…I agree with you. Life is hard but God is good…and never mix those up!
This book sounds really, really good. I have only witnessed one miracle when a Sister of ours was unconscious and everyone thought she was dying and then suddenly she opened her eyes and was okay even to this day. I also know of a cancer “survivor” which is a miracle and I do believe in those little “everyday” miracles God sends our way. Thanks for this contest. I do hope for a miracle in winning this book from all the entries! Mary Lou K
flowersmarylou85(at)gmail(dot)com
Hi Mary Lou! I think of those “everyday miracles” as “small mercies.” Not a day goes by when I don’t experience a small mercy. Hope you win!
I would love to win. I really enjoy stories about the Amish.
