The groundhog has poked his nose out of the hole and made his weather prediction for an early spring. If your favorite color is white and you’re an avid skier a prolonged winter might not be so bad, but for the rest of us we are eagerly awaiting the sweetness and light of springtime. Am I right?
What are the first signs of impending spring? Valentine’s Day displays in the grocery store! Pink hearts and chocolates. It’s hard for me to believe that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I wonder what my husband has in mind.
Stores are already displaying primroses, but I know better than to be tempted to plant this early. I’m going to resist the urge to plant my garden too soon. Always in the past, that has been a mistake. Our nights are still too cool. Although I might take a chance with a pot or two of daffodils. I’ve seen a few around the neighborhood of hearty winter bloomers. No fair, those of you who live in warm climates.
I’ve already heard chirping birds pairing up and seen chartreuse bulbs bursting their way through the soil. Hints that spring is on its way.
You may be way ahead of us. Hope you are enjoying the warmth that we crave. And the dryness. Oh my, what rain we’ve had!
